A magical winter wonderland to light up the Carleton Community Centre

A luminous candy cane forest, giant nutcrackers and life-sized gingerbread men are just some of the things to expect at Carleton’s Winter Wonderland opening this Friday at dusk at Market Place West. The outdoor holiday light display is sponsored by Port of Saint John, Saint John Energy, K-Line Construction, Leading Edge Electrical, the City of Saint John, and Nightingale Tree Services, and is intended to brighten the neighbourhood and the spirits of its residents.

"Holiday lights have a special role to play in 2020," says Dustin Leclerc, Executive Director of the Carleton Community Centre. "They are a sign of celebration that everyone can enjoy."

With this year presenting new and complex challenges for many, the heart of this project is to simply bring joy to residents. The Carleton Community Centre believes that, "together, we can shine bright", a sentiment shared among the project sponsors.

Visitors may drive or walk by the Carleton Community Centre after dusk each night to enjoy the lights. It is important to continue following Public Health Guidelines. Visitors are advised to remain within their household bubble, wear masks and practice social distancing at all times.

"Our community shines much brighter thanks to caring and socially responsible employers who continue to come together and lift us up during the holidays and throughout the year," adds Leclerc.

The light installation will not be just for the holidays. After New Year’s Eve the holiday items will be taken down, but the lights will shine bright until the spring.
