North End Neighbourhood Plan Project now open for public feedback on Shape Your City Saint John

With the development of the City’s second Neighbourhood Plan underway, the public is asked to provide their input and feedback through the City’s public engagement platform, Shape Your City Saint John. The North End Neighbourhod Plan will shape growth and development in the City’s North End. Community members will help create the plan, to make sure it represents the character of the community and highlights the interests of the public through creating thoughtful policy and action items.

The first step of the North End Neighbourhood Plan is defining a boundary of the area and what will be included in the Plan. A variety of factors must be considered when creating a boundary including:

  • The amount of land to be included
  • Natural and man-made boundaries such as rivers and highways
  • Census Tracks
  • Existing neighbourhoods (such as the Old North End and Crescent Valley)
  • Important community spaces such as schools and parks

A plan must be the right size so that can be thoughtful and reflect the neighbourhoods that it includes. During initial planning stages, City staff engaged with two major North End community groups to draft a boundary map that incorporates several established neighbourhoods and important commercial areas but does not include Milledgeville or Rockwood Park.

The City is looking for public feedback on the proposed boundary through our public engagement website, Shape Your City Saint John, HERE.

Feedback and comments can also be submitted in person at the Customer Service Centre in City Hall, or via email to Yeva Mattson, Planner, at yeva.mattson@saintjohn.ca.

The deadline to contribute feedback is May 6, 2024.

More information can be found by visiting www.shapeyourcitysaintjohn.ca, including conceptual design drawings, photos and a Council report outlining the project.
