Public Information Session 2022-13 Charlotte St. (St. James St. to Lower Cove Loop) and St. James St.(Germain St. to Charlotte St.) – Street Reconstruction

The City of Saint John will be undertaking the renewal of watermain and sanitary sewer, new storm sewer installation and street reconstruction in the above noted area this upcoming construction season. The purpose of this project is to renew infrastructure that is nearing the end of its useful life.

The construction activities will include:

  • Charlotte Street (from St. James St. to Lower Cove Loop) and St. James St. (from Germain St. to Charlotte St.) – Renewal of the watermain and sanitary sewer, installation of a storm sewer for separation and existing services to each building up to the property lines. Full street reconstruction including asphalt, concrete curb and sidewalk, grass median, trees, and signage will be undertaken.
  • There will be traffic disruptions during the project; however, construction crews and associated traffic controls will be present. Partial and full street closures are expected. Signed detours will be established.

This project is part of the City’s on-going commitment to continually improve its infrastructure and is included in the approved City of Saint John Water & Sewerage Utility Fund and General Fund Capital Programs.

The project is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of October 2024.

Representatives from the City of Saint John, and the City’s Consultant, will be available to answer questions related to the project. The public is invited to drop in anytime during the following periods to attend an information session for this project:
