Residents asked to prepare for heavy snow

With a snowfall warning currently in effect for Saint John, the Saint John Emergency Management Organization (SJ-EMO) is asking residents to be prepared.

The current forecast is for snow to begin on Thursday afternoon and intensify on Thursday night, creating potentially difficult travel conditions. It’s expected this weather system will bring 15-20+ centimetres of snow to the region before moving away on Friday morning. Please be aware and be cautious when walking or driving. The City will continue to monitor updated forecasts as the weather event approaches.

The City’s Public Works and Transportation crews are preparing for this storm while clearing up from the last one. The SJ-EMO will monitor the weather and respond if necessary.

What you can do to help:

  • Reduce driving speeds to road conditions, provide more time for travel, or change travel plans.
  • Prepare a 72-hour emergency kit.

To report a fallen power line or power outages, call Saint John Energy at 658-5252 or visit them  online
