Winter Storm Warning

Residents asked to prepare for snow and freezing rain as weather system approaches

With a special weather statement currently in effect for Saint John, the Saint John Emergency Management Organization (SJ-EMO) is asking residents to be prepared.

The current forecast is for 5-10 cm of snow Thursday, changing to freezing rain on Thursday evening. The transition from snow to freezing rain could create challenging conditions during the Thursday evening commute with the potential for slippery conditions on roads and sidewalks. Please be aware and be cautious when walking or driving; allow for extra time and slow to driving conditions.

The City’s Public Works and Transportation crews are proactively applying liquid salt brine directly to higher traffic streets to mitigate slippery conditions and preparing equipment to respond to the event.

The SJ-EMO will monitor the weather and respond if necessary.

To report a fallen power line or power outages, call Saint John Energy at 658-5252 or visit them online.

For emergencies, call 911.
