Temporary Fisher Lakes Drive closure for Rockwood Park redevelopment

The City of Saint John is advising the public that the section of Fisher Lakes Drive at the Lily Lake and Duck Pond crossing will be temporarily closed to all traffic starting Monday, May 8 for a period of approximately three weeks to allow for construction to continue on the Rockwood Park redevelopment project.

Work will take place in and around Duck Pond at the intersection of Fisher Lakes Drive and Lake Drive South and the closure will allow for the replacement of the culvert beneath Fisher Lakes Drive between Lily Lake and Duck Pond.

This work is part of the third phase of the Rockwood Park Redevelopment project which will also include upgrading the trails and lighting around the pond, upgrading the decking around the Interpretation Centre, widening the street to allow for inclusion of trails on either side, as well as adding a pavilion structure and other landscaping features around the pond.

The public can still access the Interpretation Centre via the entrance to Rockwood Park off of Hawthorne Avenue Extension. A marked detour route will be in place. The public may still access the W. Franklin Hatheway Pavilion and the campground via the Mount Pleasant Avenue entrance.
