Traffic Advisory: Charlotte Street

The City of Saint John would like to advise the public of the following traffic interruption that will begin on Thursday, September 5 on Charlotte Street and King Street. As phase two of the Charlotte Street Reconstruction Project continues, these closures and detours are necessary for road repairs and reconstruction as well as installation of new curb, sidewalks, brick medians, street lighting and underground storm sewer.

Street: Charlotte Street

Specific area: Between Union Street and King Square South

Date: September 5, 2024

Duration: Eight (8) weeks

Time: 24 hours/day, seven days/week

Direction: In both directions

Action: Closed to through traffic. Access to properties and businesses inside the closed section will be maintained.

Description of work: Road repairs/reconstruction. Installation of new curb, sidewalks, brick medians, street lighting and underground storm sewer.

King Street will also be closed to through traffic from Germain Street to Charlotte Street for the duration of the project.

Through traffic will be detoured around this section of Charlotte Street and King Street. Flaggers will be on site to direct local traffic.

Road signage and sidewalk directional signage will be in place. Motorists are asked to drive with caution and be aware of pedestrians and workers.
