Traffic Advisory: Pedestrian Crossing Accessibility Upgrades

The City of Saint John advises residents and businesses of upcoming construction work to improve pedestrian accessibility at two key intersections. As part of the project, Galbraith Construction Ltd. will be renewing sidewalks and curbs and installing a new, more accessible pedestrian crossing, including a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB).

Construction is expected to begin on King Street/Chipman Hill on Monday, June 23 and on Union Street/Chipman Hill on Tuesday, June 24.

Both sites are expected to be completed by June 30, 2025.

King Street and Union Street will remain open to two-way traffic throughout construction. Temporary fencing will be installed to ensure safe pedestrian passage. Where direct passage is not possible, signed detours will be in place.

Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility in our city.
