Traffic Advisory: Union Street

The City of Saint John would like to advise the public of the following traffic interruption that will begin July 19 on Union Street. This work is necessary for road repairs and reconstruction as part of the Charlotte Street Reconstruction project.

Direction: In both directions

Action: Closed to through traffic

Specific area: Between Waterloo Street and Dorchester Street

Description of work: Road repairs and reconstruction

Note: The intersection will reopen for the weekend beginning in the evening of July 19 and close for 14 days starting Monday, July 22.

Road signage and sidewalk directional signage will be in place to identify the detour route for local traffic; however, it is recommended that motorists make use of alternative routes, if possible, including City Road and Lower Cove Loop, to reach their destinations. Delays should be expected. Motorists are asked to drive with caution and be aware of pedestrians and workers.

The City is also reminding residents that Charlotte Street is close to through traffic between King Street South and Princess Street.
