UPDATE: Structure fire on Charlotte Street

UPDATE (11:30 p.m., October 1, 2023)

Conditions at the structure fire on Charlotte Street have improved and the recommended shelter in place has been lifted.

Saint John Fire and Police are on the scene of a significant structure fire on Charlotte Street near the Harding Street intersection near Queen Square. Charlotte Street and sections of Queen Street are closed, and other streets may also be closed, as necessary. 

Due to heavy smoke in the area, the Saint John Fire Department is recommending that residents in the area shelter in place, limit time outdoors, close all windows and doors, and turn off ventilation systems.
