Two all-terrain wheelchairs are available at Rockwood Park and designed for off-road capabilities to tackle uneven ground, gravel and the outdoor elements. The wheelchairs are intended to enhance access and allow park users with more limited mobility the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activity with families and friends. The chairs are available to reserve for free from May - October using the online reservation portal.

The ePush requires an attendant to push the user. This all-terrain electric wheelchair can accommodate users with little to no upper body mobility. The attendant can push the wheelchair manually and use the throttle to provide additional power for more challenging terrain or inclines.	The eTrike is designed for users with upper body mobility. This all-terrain electric wheelchair can be propelled manually using the drive levers, electronically using the throttle, or a combination of both.

The arena season operates this year from October 11, 2024 to March 31, 2025, the City of Saint John offers free public skating at all three of our indoor rinks. If you’re looking for somewhere to skate in Saint John, whether for hockey or recreational skating, you’re in luck. Not only does your city have the facilities you need (three municipal arenas and one outdoor rink), but all public skating in Saint John is completely free! In addition to public skating, our arenas also offer free scheduled ice time for preschoolers and seniors.

Indoor skating arenas include:

Outdoor skating surfaces include:

Outdoor skating surface located at Ihtoli-maqahamok - The Gathering Space, 1 Market Square as weather and conditions permit, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. 

Outdoor skating is available at Lily Lake in Rockwood Park as weather and conditions permit, from dawn until 10 p.m.

Outdoor ice conditions are available by calling Customer Service at 506-658-4455.

The Green Machine is available each spring in May and June. Online reservation applications open in April.

Many communities and local organizations throughout Saint John like to host events during the warmer months to clean and beautify their neighbourhoods. The Green Machine is 14-foot trailer that contains all the equipment and supplies needed to support such clean-up initiatives in our community. And it’s available to clean-up crews free of charge. With the help of the Green Machine, residents are more easily able to take ownership of their parks and public spaces, which increases their appreciation for the natural green spaces, and fosters a sense of community pride.

• Available daily for one event only between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Requests to reserve the Green Machine for an event outside of these regular hours will be considered on a case-by-case basis as staff resources allow.)
• Please include event set-up and tear-down times in your reservation request.
• Two weeks notice is required for reservations.
• An automated response will recognize receipt of your reservation request. However, the reservation is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation from Community Services staff.
• Garbage collection is available after the clean up for non-profits or events held on municipal land. Maximum 10 garbage bags.
• The Green Machine is for community use and not intended for personal or commercial use.
