Fire hydrant flushing continues in Saint John North and East

The City of Saint John continues with the fire hydrant flushing program to clean the water distribution pipes in Saint John North and East. Over the next few weeks flushing will be performed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. This may affect water customers in areas or subdivisions on or near Douglas Avenue, Chesley Drive, and all of those neighbourhoods north of the Saint John Throughway within the boundaries of Bridge Street, Belleview Avenue, Rope Walk Road, and Samuel Davis Drive.

This may also affect Saint John Water customers in areas or subdivisions on or near Consumers Drive, Westmorland Road, Rothesay Avenue, Loch Lomond Road, MacDonald Street, Bayside Drive, Glen Falls, Drury Cove, and Rothesay Road.

Customers may experience turbidity (dirty or cloudy) water for up to 20 minutes if they use water during the time that the line on their street is being flushed. Though customers may encounter a drop in water pressure, at no time should they be without water. The water is safe to consume.

The City will notify the public when the fire hydrant flushing program begins in other areas.
