By-Law Changes

Common Council will be considering by-law changes to its Building, Plumbing, Water and Sewerage, Subdivision and Excavation of Streets bylaws. First and second by-law readings are scheduled for the Council meeting of December 7th; Third reading is scheduled for the December 14th Council meeting. A copy of each by-law may be inspected in the Office of the City Clerk during regular office hours.

Below is description of the proposed by-law changes:

Building By-law

  • While the Building By-law is being repealed and replaced to be in line with the updated Community Planning Act, the main proposed changes are in relation to increases to permit fees.

Plumbing By-law

  • The proposed amendment to the Plumbing by-law is for the purpose of increasing the plumbing permit fee.

Water and Sewerage By-law

  • The proposed amendment to the Water and Sewerage by-law is for the purpose of increasing the water and sewerage permit fee.

Subdivision By-law

  • The proposed amendment to the Subdivision by-law is for the purpose of increasing fees for various subdivision application and service fees.

Excavation of Streets By-law

  • While the Excavation of Streets by-law is being repealed and replaced to be in line with the Local Governance Act, the main proposed changes are in relation to increases in permit and service fees.
