Traffic and Transit Advisory: Royal Canadian Legion National Convention

The City of Saint John would like to advise the public of the following traffic interruption that will begin on Sunday, August 25 in the uptown area. This closure is necessary to allow for pedestrian and motorist safety during the Royal Canadian Legion National Convention and parade.

Street: King Street

Specific area: Between Prince William Street and Water Street

Date:  Sunday, August 25, 2024

Duration: One (1) day

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Direction: In both directions

Action: Closed to through traffic

Description of work: Parade and event

For the duration of the event, Saint John Transit buses will not use the stop on St. Patrick Street or both stops at bottom King Street.  Buses will use Union Street and Chipman Hill as a detour in both directions. Buses will stop at the Chipman Hill and King Street intersection.

To facilitate a safe event, barricades will be in place at the following location:

  • Chipman Hill and Union Street
  • Chipman Hill and King Street
  • St. Patrick Street and Union Street
  • Water Street and Duke Street
  • Prince William Street and Duke Street
  • Prince William Street and Princess Street
  • Canterbury Street and Grannan Lane
  • King Street and Germain Street

Road signage and sidewalk directional signage will be in place. Motorists are asked to drive with caution and be aware of pedestrians and workers.
