PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Community Grants Program is an annual funding program available to non-profit and charitable organizations in Saint John who deliver programs and services aimed to enhance quality of life for Saint John residents.
APPLICATION AND ELIGIBILITY
Grant amounts may range from $100 - $24,999.
Deadline to submit applications: January 31, 2025
Applicants must comply with the City of Saint John Grant Policy.
Applicants must be a registered non profit, charitable organization or qualified donee holding its principal activities within the City of Saint John.
Applicants must not apply for more than one category.
Applicants must not submit more than one application, or various funding scenarios, for one category.
Applicants must not receive City of Saint John funding from any other source (e.g. service agreement, subsidy, grant).
Applicants must not be affiliated with any political party or religious denomination.

The Community Grants Committee reserves the right to request additional information not captured within the following application, including but not limited to, financial statements, board member contacts, insurance, annual reports, and Terms of Reference.
Successful applicants will be asked to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) indicating they agree to the terms of the Community Grants Funding Program. Failure to sign the MOU will result in the applicant not receiving the funding.
Please complete all sections of the application. Sections that are left blank may result in disqualification.
Your forecasted budget must include your organization’s annual operating budget. It should demonstrate financial need and include all committed and uncommitted sources of revenue. Sources of revenue may include in-kind services and volunteer contributions.* A separate attachment may be provided.
Effective January 1, 2023, the City of Saint John Grant Policy stipulates that revenues requested from the operational funds category of the Community Grant Program must not exceed 30% of an organization’s total annual revenue streams.
*Volunteer hour calculation: # of volunteer hours x $18.99 (provincial average hourly wage) (ie. 400 volunteer hours x $18.99 = $7,596. The total $7,596 may be entered as revenue.)
