Paul Dempsey

Councillor

Councillor Paul Dempsey was elected to represent Ward 4 in May 2026, bringing more than 36 years of distinguished public service in leadership, operations, and community engagement.

A retired senior Canadian Armed Forces naval officer, Paul commanded HMCS Montreal, served as Commandant of the Canadian Forces Naval Operations School, and held senior leadership roles with Canada’s Atlantic and Pacific fleets, as well as with U.S. Central Command. Following his military career, he served as a senior Canadian diplomat in Latin America, advancing Canada’s international interests and strengthening bilateral relationships.

Paul has a long history of community involvement, particularly in veterans’ advocacy and civic engagement. He is a former Chair of the New Brunswick Naval Memorial Committee, an Executive Board Member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 58, and currently serves as Vice President of the Royal United Services Institute of New Brunswick.

On Council, Paul is focused on community safety, responsible development, infrastructure renewal, and enhancing quality of life for local families and neighbourhoods.
