79th Mayor of the City of Saint John

First elected to Common Council in 2012 | Mayor since 2021

Donna Reardon was elected as the 79th Mayor of the City of Saint John in May 2021, becoming the third woman to hold this office in the city’s 240-year history. Her career in municipal politics began in 2012 when she was first elected to Common Council, and she was re-elected in 2016.

Mayor Reardon holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her professional background has fueled a strong commitment to social equity, particularly in addressing child poverty and supporting vulnerable populations.

With more than 30 years of volunteer service, Mayor Reardon’s dedication to community building began with her involvement on the Provincial District 8 Education Council. Her ongoing civic engagement reflects her passion for resilient neighborhoods, active transportation, climate action, and mental and physical wellness through accessible amenities and recreation.

In her role as Mayor, Donna serves as an ex-officio member on all City of Saint John Standing Committees, working closely with Council and City staff to provide thoughtful, evidence-based leadership. With Saint John hosting New Brunswick’s highest concentration of heavy industry, she is focused on building strong partnerships that ensure sustainable, win-win outcomes for residents, businesses, and the environment alike.

Mayor Reardon believes that effective municipal leadership means navigating the unexpected with care, collaboration, and clarity, always with a focus on strengthening the community and improving quality of life for all.
